If your home was constructed between the late 1970's and the 1990's, the piping may be done with grey plastic polybutylene pipe. This pipe, or poly-b pipe, was valued as a cheaper alternative to PEX or copper pipe – at least in the short term. So, what seems to be all the fuss and trouble with Poly B?

After years of using poly-b pipe it was discovered that exposure to the suns UV rays wears on the resin of poly-b piping, this can lead to many, tiny pinhole leaks about 10 to 20 years after installation.
