Changing a Quick Connect

pmcplumber • July 23, 2019

We had a Request from Paul in Carstairs on how to change out a quick connect for your BBQ.

The first thing you should do is make sure you have the correct quick connect for your BBQ. Make sure the gas valve is in the OFF position. Next you’ll need two #12 crescent wrench’s and some pipe dope or Teflon tape (the yellow one). Use the tape to wrap the threads 3 times in a clock wise motion. Grab your wrenches! One will be a back up, the other will be your working wrench. Make sure to use the back up on the valve so it does not turn. Then with the other wrench turn clockwise to tighten on the new quick connect. Now plug in your new BBQ to the quick connect and turn the gas valve back on. Note: this is for natural gas BBQ’s only.

Any time you need to change anything below the quick connect make sure to call a qualified gas fitter. PMC Plumbing is more than happy to help you out. Give us a call! 587-583-5495
