Tankless Water Heaters - Heat Exchangers

Time for that long awaited, luxurious bath......

After a long, busy week it's finally time to relax in your new luxury soaker tub....and now there's not enough hot water... what is wrong?  Keeping up the maintenance on your Tankless Water Heater is fundamental to its longevity. Here in Alberta we have hard water which means servicing your tankless should be done at the very least once per year.

During the servicing we will clean the filters and flush the entire system to help remove any sediment and mineral deposits keeping the lines clean. Over time this mineral buildup can erode the walls inside the heat exchanger. We will also clean the air filter and water filter on your heater. The outside of your tank should be cleaned as well. Here in Alberta we have a tremendous amount of dust and debris in the air and keeping all parts of your tankless water heat clean will help lengthen its lifespan, saving you money and the hassle of getting it replaced.

In the pictures below you can see the dust and dirt that collects over time. This particular unit had the heat exchange replaced entirely. In this case we dismantled the entire unit. Cleaned all the components including the outside. Re-installed a new heat exchanger, placed the now cleaned core and vents back and then reconnected all the water and electrical lines.

Once reinstalled, the manifold gas pressures are adjusted and the entire unit is checked.

Due to the hard water in Alberta another key way to help preserve the life of your Tankless Water Heater is to install a water softener system. PMC Plumbing supplies, services and installs these as well.

Regular maintenance of your tankless unit will help improve its efficiency and prevent costly replacements and service calls. Maintenance by a qualified technician also protects your warranty. Regular checks for leaks, corrosion, rust and damage should be done. If your tankless heater isn’t working the way it should, give Paul a call at 587-583-5495
